Steps to Recover your Storm Flooded Pool

Here are the steps to recover your pool after the storm

First, just breathe ---- take care of your home and then you can focus on your pool.

But, do go ahead and put some chlorine in your pool NOW to help alleviate mosquitos, odor and other issues that may occur.

If you had intrusion you will want to GRADUALLY dilute the salt water by draining your pool, BUT NOT THROUGH YOUR FILTER.  Take out just a few feet of water at a time and replace with fresh water.   Do not drain too far to avoid your pool popping up due to pressure from ground water.

Remove all foreign objects from the pool (patio furniture, yard waste and debris)

When you are ready to clean up your pool:

Step 1 – Apply shock and a pool super flocculant/clarifier to the pool.  Brush pool surface. Turn on pump and run for 2 – 3 hours.  The flocculant with bond with particles and cause them to sink to the bottom of the pool.

Step 2 – Turn off pool pump and let stand still overnight to allow flocculant to do it's work.

Step 3 – Use a suction pool vacuum and pool pole to SLOWLY vacuum waste and debris OUT TO THE YARD, not through the filter. Keep the water line above the skimmer. Add additional water as needed.

Step 4 – Check and balance chemicals. Repeat until clean and balanced.
